Supernatural: 9.2 Devil May Care

fannishlissI am really excited for the way season 9 looks right now. I'm spoiler free for future eps.
To me, season 6, 7, and 8 form a kind of interlude, all reacting to the big fallout of the end of s5. (S6 -- Dean torn about being a Hunter, Sam with no soul; s7 Leviathans, Sam crazy, everyone dies; s8 Dean having been through Purgatory, Sam put back together, brothers finally reunite). Now, though, we have a much bigger fallout, with the downfall of Heaven, and we're in a place where Sam and Dean have pledged to work together as brothers again, they're both full-on Hunters, they have resources. To me it's a serious reboot in a lot of very good ways.
So I really like this as a moment for Abaddon. She is so scary to me. If she had pulled that domination move on Dean back in s4, he would have folded. It's awesome to see how much he has recovered since then. I loved that she has these crazy powers -- like she can restore her body with someone's blood. I wondered how they were going to pull Alaina Hoffman back from that, and they did a great job!
I love Zeke. I think Jared did a good job with him. He seems very Angelic to me. That robotic thing is pretty much what the warrior Angels have going on, imho. :) When Zeke went all blue eyed and graced out the demons, I totally cheered. I guess Abaddon ran away? Why weren't the demons' eyes burned out though?
I loved how Dean flinched away from Zeke and couldn't look him in the eye. Seeing Sam possessed hurts Dean where he lives and I love that. :)
The speech Dean gave Kevin was a little off to me. I want Dean to show Kevin a little more love before he calls him family, you know? They never give Kevin any downtime, they just order him about. If I were Kevin, I would NOT be feeling the love, which as far as I can remember, is just Dean handing him two bottles, one of uppers and one of downers. :P I loved Kevin Solo. He can hack like a Master!!
I love the residual effects of the Healing on Crowley, and yet he is still the same Master Manipulator he ever was.
Is it possible that Linda Tran is still alive?? Is it true what Dean says, that it doesn't matter, she would be too broken by now to help? I don't believe that, but it's the kind of rationalization that Dean has to believe because he knifes possessed people all over the place.
I've got three women characters to work with from this ep:
the miltary woman, who I loved
the Hunter girl, who was maybe a bit thin?
the grandma demon
PLUS of course Abaddon. I love that she is a Knight of Hell, handpicked by Lucifer. What a great concept. WHAT IS SHE. Must do more RESEARCH!!
BTW, the fics from my journal are all up now over at AO3!!! That's 135 Supernatural stories going back to around 2008, including all my Women of Supernatural ficlets. Yay!
