As a little more introduction to new friends, under the cut you'll find links to most of my stories of 2014 so far (also a good motivation to gather up my valentines and drabbles).   If you leave a comment, I'll be so grateful.  Don't feel you need to curb your honest reaction --if you have concrit or a negative reaction, just let me know --  I was in grad school, I can take it!

The stories I've written so far in 2014, and what I think of them.

Compelling. (SPN) This is a het porn that I wrote between Dean and the curator from 9.16.  I like the story but think I might remix it from the woman's pov.  Normally when I write a Supernatural woman, I want to get a little deeper inside her head.  In this story, I think the character is still a little opaque. I did find some good backstory for her and I think she is real.... but Dean is not exactly at ease with himself, which compounds the problem that their interaction on the show was uncomfortable, and they clicked in the story, but that opacity grows out of Dean's character to a certain extent.   I hope I have time to do the remix.

On the Black Leather Couch. (J2)  This porno fic came to fruition perfectly.  But it embarrasses me because it would embarrass the Real People if they ever saw it.  /o\    This piece begs for a sequel.  It begs very prettily.  OMG.

Strangers, Kissing (J2)  Actually I write very little J2.  :P    This comment fic was super fun to write and I think very successful.

Eight Arms are Better than Two --right? (SPN crack) I actually love writing crack.  Nothing is more fun than to take an outlandish premise, "Dean is an Octopus," and make it work.

Tying the Knots (Who, Nine/Rose and Jack).    I love writing these characters so much.  This is a very simple story, but what worked for me was the characters and their emotional connections.

Snow Day (Sherlock, John/Sherlock/Mary).  This was for porn battle.  I think I lost track of Sherlock's pov.  I am not great at omniscient narrato -- this is what happens.  The story fell into John's head.  I think it still works, but it would have better with more of what Sherlock was feeling.  Another story that calls out for a remix!    :P

The Mountain Eternal Dances with the River (Firefly, River/Jayne).  also for porn battle.  I felt like I hit Jayne's characterization pretty well in this story, and River's as well.  I love the two of them together.  First time I've ever written for them, and so far I am satisfied.

A Satisfactory Arrangement.  (Elementary, Sherlock/Joan).  Also for porn battle.  Jeez, I've written a lot of porn in 2014!    What I loved most about this story was getting into the speech patterns and characterization of JLM!Sherlock and Joan.  This story worked exactly the way I wanted it to.  I guess it is no coincidence that it shot to the top of my AO3 by kudos.    Sherlock readers treat people well on AO3 is also my verdict. I need to get my Sherlock song live so people can hear it!

Bonds and the Blood (Supernatural, hiatus fic).  This story is very typical of the way I dig into the story and solve the problems.  I always want people to get their act together and do the right thing.  It's not conducive to drama.  I liked this story.  Needless to say it's not the way that s9 continued.  ):

The Moment (Ten/Rose, Ten2/Rose, Ten and the Moment) -- this is another piece that's typical of me... my spiritual, utopian, Romantic worldview.  This is why I can't bring myself to write Loki, because he's done such terrible things and to solve his problems would take a miraculous power of forgiveness.  (I am grooving on Loki Agent of Asgard, a very hopeful story that sidesteps this problem.)

Heart's Ease, or, Love in Idleness (Ten/Rose).  Another explicit story!  I have been very explicit in 2014.  I told my husband, I think it is a backlash from my original novel, 82,000 porn free words.  :P  -- This is another story, like the Moment, written to Prompt.  I love writing to prompt, I love dealing with impossible situations and making the characters work it through.  I felt like the Doctor is very true to character in this story. He's a little dark, but so full of love, and he can't help but try, even though he desperately fears the consequences. *nods*

--- so, it looks like I need to focus more on Point of View, refusing to let too narrow a pov undermine my story.  Any thoughts?

--Also, it's been pointed out that April is National Poetry Month, so I'll be trying to write more poems in April.  Wordcount will suffer, but hopefully the quality of the words will be high.  :)

If a character had superpowers, how would the character use them for herself? or for others?
--My superpower is turning to the page.  I can find information very quickly. I actually use this power a lot both for myself and for others.
--My original novel main character has no superpowers, but, she is in contact with the Fae.  I think it will improve my novel if she works a little harder at contacting them in book one, and manages to stay more mission driven (she is trying to save the world) in book two.
How does your character behave when insulted or threatened? I just had a runin with school administrators today on behalf of my son, and I was way less calm than I would have preferred.  It would make my original character more real if she got angrier and less clear-headed.  Her reactions are justified fear, but more lashing out might be good for her.  Right now maybe her reasonableness makes her a little flat.  :D
